Carbon Tax, Yes. Clean Air Rules Rollback, No.

WASHINGTON - A group of political and business leaders called today for a carbon tax to address the growing dangers of climate change. Natural Resources Defense Council President Rhea Suh made the following statement in response:

“What’s important is that we cut carbon pollution fast enough to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. Putting a price on carbon could be an important part of a comprehensive program. It can’t do the job alone, though, and is not a replacement for carbon limits under our current laws. It would require congressional action, and we look forward to seeing the details.

"We have a moral obligation to protect future generations from the growing dangers of climate change. Effective action means building on the progress we’re already making, not sacrificing those gains by weakening the laws Congress has already passed."
