Dr. Veena Singla Re-Appointed to EPA’s Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Dr. Veena Singla, Senior Scientist at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) has been re-appointed to the Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee (CHPAC) by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan.

“Children are one of the most susceptible groups to environmental health issues, and it is essential we have policies informed by cross-cutting insights and research to protect them,” noted Dr. Singla. “I am honored to continue working alongside some of the nation’s most committed and respected scientists, clinicians and advocates, and to support EPA’s work in protecting the safety of our communities.”

The CHPAC is composed of a diverse group of experts across research, academia, healthcare, legal, state, environmental organizations and local and tribal governments. The committee advises EPA on regulations, research and communications related to children's environmental health.

Dr. Singla’s CHPAC appointment follows the announcement of her new role as Associate Director for the Agents of Change in Environmental Justice program (Agents of Change). The program aims to empower emerging leaders from historically excluded backgrounds in science and academia to reimagine solutions for a just and healthy planet. Agents of Change is a partnership between Environmental Health News and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
