Gov. Cooper’s Bold Climate and Clean Energy Agenda Will Benefit North Carolinians

RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper today announced an executive order with national implications that responds to the threat of climate change with a formidable agenda to build resiliency, sharply reduce greenhouse gas pollution, expand clean energy and create clean energy jobs in North Carolina.

Luis Martinez, Director, Southeast Energy, Climate & Clean Energy Program, at the Natural Resources Defense Council, made the following statement:

“North Carolinians know well that climate change is here—they’ve seen its harm and hazard firsthand, most recently from hurricanes. That’s why Gov. Cooper's bold agenda couldn’t come at a better time. His plan will prepare people for expected climate impacts, deeply curb the pollution driving climate change, capture new clean energy growth in electric vehicles and put North Carolinians to work building a safer clean energy future. This is visionary climate leadership.”
