Governor Brown’s Executive Order Redoubles Drought Actions; Right Moves at the Right Time

Critical provisions call on cities, farms and fisheries to balance water needs

LOS ANGELES (April 25, 2014) –  Governor Brown today issued an executive order to strengthen the state’s ability to manage water and environment effectively during the state’s historic drought conditions, calling on all Californians to redouble their efforts to conserve water.

Natural Resources Defense Council Water Program Director Steve Fleischli made the following statement:

“The Governor's actions are the right moves at the right time. They include critical provisions to stretch our water supplies, protect fish and wildlife, and they also provide agencies with the teeth they need to ensure that Californians don’t waste precious water during this historic drought.”
