North American Clean Energy Pledge Shows the Promise of Paris
WASHINGTON –The leaders of the United States, Mexico and Canada today unveiled an array of new commitments to combat climate change and speed our transition to renewable sources of energy.
The following is a statement by Rhea Suh, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council:
“North America’s three leaders today delivered an unprecedented clean energy commitment to combat climate change. This is the latest proof that the historic Paris agreement is galvanizing real action all around the world. This continental agreement—with some of the world’s largest energy consumers shifting away from fossil fuels —sets a great example for other regions. Together, we can, and must, overcome the global environmental challenge of our time.”
