NRDC President: Trump Budget Betrays Our Values and Puts Polluters First

WASHINGTON – The White House today is releasing details of President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget, which proposes deep cutbacks in federal spending for public health, clean air, safe water, public lands, clean energy, toxic cleanups and climate action.

The following is a statement by Rhea Suh, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council:

Budgets are about values, putting our money on what matters most. Trump’s slash and burn budget puts polluters first and the rest of us dead last. It guts programs that protect clean air, water and lands. It abandons U.S. climate and clean energy leadership. It betrays our values and leaves our kids to pay the price.

Congress must ignore Trump’s reckless assault on the priorities we share and the progress we’ve made, and instead invest in what we all hold dear – our health, our environment and our children’s future.”
