NRDC Reacts to Governor Polis’s State of the State Address

DENVER – In his final State of the State address, Governor Polis touted Colorado's resiliency and commitments to addressing housing, transit, climate actions, and the importance of protecting pollinators.

The following is statement from Sam Gilchrist, western government affairs director at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council):

“Governor Polis understands the importance of pollinators to the health of communities and the environment. His pledge to support legislation ending the use of unnecessary pesticides that harm pollinators which he calls ‘the workhorses of our ecosystems who are responsible for one in three bites of food we eat’ is good for Colorado farmers, the environment, and our public health.

“Additionally, the governor’s recommitment to achieving 100 percent clean energy recognizes that Colorado must keep moving forward with investments in the infrastructure needed to deliver low-cost, low-carbon power to residents across the state. By doubling down on clean energy, Colorado can continue to cut pollution, strengthen energy reliability, and lower costs for families and businesses.”
