President's Take on Global Warming Bill Same Old Sad Story

Seven Years of Failure Followed by Another Call for Inaction
WASHINGTON (June 2, 2008) -- Hours before the landmark vote by the U.S. Senate to bring global warming solutions to the Senate floor for the first time in history, President Bush issued his Statement Of Administration Policy on S. 3036 - Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act.

The following is a statement from Dan Lashof, PhD, Director of the Climate Center at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“After seven years of trying to mislead us on the science of global warming, the President is now trying to mislead us on the economics.

“The Climate Security Act will create good American jobs building our clean energy future and studies by the president’s own administration show that under this bill the economy will continue to grow. And, the cost of doing nothing will be far greater.

“Inaction is no longer an option.”
