Tax Package is a Missed Opportunity on Clean Energy

WASHINGTON -- The tax package negotiated by lawmakers and the White House as a part of the year-end funding bills lacks many critical ingredients that would spur adoption of electric vehicles, solar power, energy efficiency, and energy storage needed to address the climate crisis.

The following is a statement by John Bowman, managing director for government affairs at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC):

“This tax package fails to meet the level of ambition needed for clean energy and, as such, is a missed opportunity to address the climate crisis.

“The Trump administration and some in Congress appear willing to ignore the very real promise of these innovative technologies. Lawmakers must continue fighting for a tax code that protects our climate – and pass a robust package of needed updates and extensions as soon as possible.”
