Where is the GOP Plan to Protect Families from Climate Change?

WASHINGTON - As momentum grows for strong measures to fight climate change, Senate Republicans plan to spend the day disparaging this urgent call for needed action, denigrating the ambition of a vital movement and mischaracterizing its goals.

Aliya Haq, director of the federal policy group of the climate and clean energy program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, made the following statement:

“Where, amid all the sound and fury, is the GOP plan to protect our families from the rising costs and mounting dangers of climate change? The science is clear - and so is the voice of the American people, who expect our government to act.

“Let’s work together to create millions of good-paying American jobs. Let’s leave our children a livable world. Let’s roll up our sleeves and craft a sound package of assertive measures to speed the just and equitable shift we need to 100 percent clean energy - starting now.”
