Bill Introduced to Address Clean Energy Impacts of Trump Energy Tax

The Lowering Electric Bills Act would address some of the megabill’s biggest flaws.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Finance Committee ranking member Ron Wyden introduced legislation to reinstate the clean energy tax provisions that were recently removed in the reconciliation package megabill. NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) experts and industry voices note that the proposed bill could help address the most egregious impacts of the new budget law, which would otherwise stifle our fastest-growing source of new power on the grid, increase household energy bills, and cut jobs

Following is reaction from Alexandra Adams, chief policy advocacy officer at NRDC:

“The Lowering Electric Bills Act would help restore the clean energy economy and lower electricity bills for all Americans. Clean energy is the fastest growing and cheapest way to power our homes and lives. With the damage done by the so-called Big Beautiful Bill, this legislation is the first step in restoring the nation’s ability to bring down energy prices and keep the lights on. The Senate should move it forward quickly.”
