Renée Sharp has more than 20 years of experience in environmental policy, research, and program implementation, specializing in plastic pollution, environmental health, and clean energy. Prior to joining NRDC, Sharp spent 15 years at Environmental Working Group, where she held multiple leadership positions, including research director, California director, and senior scientist, leading teams of scientists and advocates to advance policy and market transformation. She also served as the executive director of GRID Alternatives Bay Area, where she worked to expand solar power and electric vehicle access for low-income families. Sharp has consulted for numerous national NGOs on plastics, toxics, and renewable energy issues, and was a strategic advisor for the national environmental health network Safer States. Sharp holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Rice University and a master’s degree in biology from Pennsylvania State University. She is based in NRDC's San Francisco office.
