Ted Toon (he/him)
Ted Toon joined NRDC to continue his long career at the intersection of housing, finance, affordability, and sustainability. Immediately prior to NRDC, Toon served as a principal on the design team for the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He worked at the White House Council on Environmental Quality as director for housing efficiency during the Biden administration, and at the White House Office of Management and Budget as a senior policy advisor on residential resilience and sustainability during the Obama administration. Toon served as leadership for over 20 years in multiple director roles at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C., working with programs including FHA multifamily lending, the Rental Assistance Demonstration program, and the Green Retrofit Program. His focus with NRDC's Green Finance and Economic Development team is bringing finance tools and policies to the market that increase long term housing affordability and sustainability. Toon holds undergraduate degrees in environmental design and business from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in real estate development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is based in the Washington, D.C., office.
