Biden’s Made a Good Start on Climate – Time for the Senate to Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  A year ago President Biden issued a sweeping executive order making climate action a central pillar of his presidency.

John Bowman, managing director for government affairs at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) made the following statement:

“President Biden moved swiftly to address the existential environmental crisis of our time. He laid out a comprehensive vision to cut our carbon footprint 50-52 percent by 2030. He organized the government to make every agency part of the climate fix. He initiated Justice40 to make sure benefits reach low-income communities on the frontlines of climate hazard and harm. And he installed a blue-chip team to get the job done.

“What’s needed now is the strategic investment the Build Back Better legislation calls for to speed the shift to clean energy, cut costs for our families, make our power grid more reliable and our society more equitable. It’s time for the Senate to enact this agenda so the nation can confront the rising costs and mounting dangers of climate change with the urgency the crisis demands.”
