Cuomo Calls for Bold Environmental, Energy Action in “2019 Justice Agenda”

NEW YORK – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo today unveiled his “2019 Justice Agenda,” outlining a suite of ambitious proposals, including a series of bold environmental and energy commitments.

Following is a statement from Kit Kennedy, Senior Director for Climate & Clean Energy for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC):

“Governor Cuomo is calling it like it is: Trump is turning a blind eye to the urgency of climate action and rejecting his administration’s very own scientific report. While Washington devastatingly falls down on the job, the Governor is poised to lead the fight with a slate of game-changing environmental and clean energy commitments for 2019.

“From calling for an aggressive path forward on clean energy, putting New York on track to slash its carbon footprint while strengthening the economy, to recognizing the crisis of our drinking water and committing to protecting our children from dangerous chemicals, the Governor’s leadership is more critical than ever.

“New York has a long and proud history of environmental leadership, and with an eye toward the future, the Governor is taking critical steps to build on that legacy and create a stronger New York for generations.”
