House GOP Advances “Polluting in America” Bill Slashing Clean Air, Water and Lands Protections

WASHINGTON – The Republican-led House Appropriations Committee today is moving to approve a 2018 spending bill that seeks deep cuts to the budgets for the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Interior and other agencies.

The following is a statement from Scott Slesinger, legislative director at the Natural Resources Defense Council:

"House Republicans couldn’t be clearer: their ‘Polluting in America’ spending bill would make our air dirtier, our water unsafe and our treasured public lands open to harmful oil and gas drilling. That’s not what Americans want. And that’s not the direction our country should go. This reckless drive to reward polluters by slashing and burning the EPA and Interior departments should be rejected by the full House."
