NEPA Proposals Support Climate Action, Clean Energy Build-Out

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Biden administration proposed phase-two regulations for the National Environmental Policy Act, the landmark 1970 law that guides federal agencies in the review of major projects and decision-making.
Christy Goldfuss, chief policy impact officer for NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) made the following statement:
“The new and modernized review and approval process supports the clean energy build-out at the pace and scale we need to confront the climate crisis. It ensures robust local engagement, early on, to boost protections for communities. This will reduce challenges to projects at later points in the process.
“It elevates environmental justice, strengthens safeguards for communities and people of color, and holds each agency to account for delivering on those goals. It affirms the central purpose of this bedrock law: to protect the air, water, wildlife and habitat we all depend on to sustain a livable world for ourselves and our children.”
