Northam Administration Ignores Pipeline Project’s Dangers

WASHINGTON - The Northam Administration has cleared the way for construction of the Mountain Valley Pipeline despite the risks this project poses to the local water supply.

The following is a statement by Walton Shepherd, a senior attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council who works on energy issues in Virginia:

“The Northam Administration has turned a blind eye to what threatens to become an environmental disaster, with serious consequences for public health. It also goes against the governor’s call for the Department of Environmental Quality to conduct thorough environmental reviews of projects such as pipelines that impact our health and safety. This is no way to start a new administration. Northam must do better.’’
