NRDC and 136 Groups Denounce Trump Deregulatory Order

WASHINGTON (Feb. 28, 2017) – In advance of President Trump’s address to Congress, NRDC and 136 other groups sent a letter to the White House today opposing the President’s Jan. 30 executive order that requires agencies to repeal two regulations for each new rule issued.

The following is a statement by Scott Slesinger, legislative director of the Natural Resources Defense Council.

“President Trump’s order—and a host of bills before Congress—would tear down safeguards that protect Americans from dirty air, unsafe food, toxic products, shoddy financial practices and contaminated water.  This de-regulatory frenzy is a push to lower costs for industry.  What is totally absent here is even the slightest effort to consider how rules benefit people.”
