Public Interest Groups Reject H.R. 1

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The House is preparing to vote as early as Wednesday on H.R. 1.

Christy Goldfuss, chief policy impact officer with the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), made the following statement:

“How many bad ideas can be shoehorned into a single bill? This is a warmed-over hash of industry handouts, special-interest giveaways and get-out-of-jail-free cards for some of the worst polluters on the planet.

“It would gut commonsense safeguards, dim the voices of vulnerable communities and lock in decades of deepening dependence on fossil fuels - just when we’re pivoting to cleaner, more sustainable ways to power our future.

“The House should defeat this bill without delay, as NRDC and nearly 100 other public interest groups call for in this letter."
