Senate Democrats Right to Block GOP Rushed Vote on Pruitt

WASHINGTON  – Democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee today blocked a GOP-led rush to vote on the nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.

The following is a statement by Rhea Suh, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“Senate Democrats are right to refuse to participate in Scott Pruitt’s confirmation because he is obstructing a complete review of his record. He’s refused to provide information concerning his myriad conflicts of interest and lawsuits against the EPA. And he’s stonewalling by telling senators 19 separate times they should file open records requests if they want answers—knowing there’s at least a two-year Oklahoma backlog to receive information.”
