Alex Hillbrand

HFC Expert, Climate & Clean Energy and International Programs

Alex Hillbrand joined NRDC in 2015 to develop technical policies for a global phasedown of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Today, he focuses on kicking off the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, often collaborating with U.S. states, the HVACR industry, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and stakeholders around the world—especially India—to encourage the use of climate-friendly, energy efficient alternatives. Hillbrand holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in energy systems engineering. He is based in the Washington, D.C. office.
