Lara Ettenson

Director, Energy Efficiency Initiative, Climate & Clean Energy Program

Lara Ettenson works collaboratively with the California energy agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders to ensure that efficiency is the first option used to meet California’s energy needs. Prior to joining NRDC, she worked for the New York City Economic Development Corporation on projects related to energy efficiency, renewables, and energy education. She has also worked as an elementary-school science teacher in Marin County, California. Ettenson holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental studies from Oberlin College, as well as two master’s degrees, one in environmental science and policy from Columbia University and another in education from San Francisco State University. She is based in San Francisco.
