NRDC President: Despite Trump’s Climate Retreat, the “Promise of Paris is Stronger than Ever”

Evidence seen in major Bloomberg cities initiative launched today

WASHINGTON – On the anniversary of President Trump’s vow to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement that united the world to address climate change, Natural Resources Defense Council President Rhea Suh issued the following statement:

“The promise of Paris is stronger than ever. Across the country, Americans have stepped forward to reject Trump’s call to walk away from the Paris accords, go back on our word to the rest of the world and leave our children to pay the price.

“At the local, regional and state levels, thousands of civic and business leaders are moving ahead with the clean energy gains we need to protect future generations from the growing dangers of climate change. And, across the country, more than 450 mayors have pledged to do their part to advance the goals of the Paris agreement. Together, we are showing the world that the United States is doing its part to deliver on the promise of Paris.”
