Senate Should Reject Trump’s Anti-Science Hero to Lead NASA

WASHINGTON  – The Senate is expected to vote today on the nomination of Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.), the president’s pick to lead the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as its administrator.

The following is a statement from Scott Slesinger, legislative director for the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“Bridenstine is not suited to lead NASA. The Senate should reject him. He lacks a scientific background, has denied the human contribution to dangerous climate change, and wants to slash NASA's climate research funding. NASA’s mission is too important to entrust to someone who lacks the basic qualifications for the job.’’

A letter detailing opposition to Bridenstine’s nomination is here.
