Joe Thwaites leads NRDC’s work to scale up international climate finance and align global investments with the Paris Agreement. He focuses on shaping policies to boost climate funding for developing countries and reform international financial institutions to better support climate goals. Previously, Thwaites was a climate finance associate at the World Resources Institute and has also worked on European Union climate and energy policy in Brussels and UN conflict prevention and disarmament initiatives in New York. He holds a bachelor's degree in politics from the University of York and a master’s in global environmental policy from American University. He is based in London.
