Jennifer Chen guides the continuing evolution of the power grid toward greater sustainability, ensuring that the grid’s regulations allow clean and renewable energy to compete effectively with the energy from traditional power plants. Her team is focused on reducing peak electricity demand, providing market opportunities for clean energy resources, incorporating non-wire alternatives into transmission planning, and facilitating the retirement of the least-efficient power plants. Prior to joining NRDC, Chen was an attorney at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She holds a JD from New York University and a PhD from the University of Chicago. She is based in Washington, D.C.
