Director, Food & Agriculture program
Jonathan Kaplan oversees initiatives to reduce the use of antibiotics in the livestock industry and eliminate toxic chemicals and contaminants from the food supply. Prior to joining NRDC, Kaplan directed programs both at the San Francisco Baykeeper and at Environment California, where he led regulatory, legislative, and public-outreach initiatives relating to pesticides and other pollutants. He serves on numerous boards and advisory groups that consult with academic, government, and nonprofit organizations on issues pertaining to toxins and antibiotics. Kaplan holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Cornell University and a master’s in environmental management from Yale University. He is based in San Francisco.
