As a member of the Climate & Clean Energy policy analysis group, Sophia Ptacek supports efforts to bolster climate policy and accelerate clean energy deployment. She is particularly interested in the intersection of energy transition strategies, climate resilience, and public health. Prior to joining NRDC, Ptacek worked as an environmental health and safety intern at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and as a healthy energy sciences associate with the Center for Environmental Health, where she researched the community health and climate effects of fossil fuel extraction. Ptacek holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and science in society from Wesleyan University. She is based in NRDC’s New York office.
