NRDC at COP28: Taking Stock of Global Progress

The 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), held in Dubai from November 30 through December 12, is a critical moment for global action to fight climate change.

This year, for the first time, countries will assess their collective progress toward meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement in a “global stocktake.” Experts have already shown that we are not on the road to a 1.5-degree Celsius future, which is where we need to be to avoid the worst impacts of the warming planet. So, this meeting will be the time for all actors—governments, companies, financial institutions, and more—to commit to the urgent actions we need to close the gap during this decisive decade.

This year has been yet another one of devastating floods, deadly heat waves, tragic droughts, and catastrophic storms. The stakes are high, but so is the opportunity. We need bold and decisive action, and we need it now.

NRDC will participate in COP28 at a range of events with our partners from around the world. We invite you to join us, in person or virtually, to learn about our work there.
