CHECK OUT NRDC'S LINEUP OF CLIMATE WEEK EVENTS

Each fall, people from around the world gather in New York City for Climate Week NYC. The week brings together government officials, business leaders, advocates, and academics to accelerate climate solutions. For years, NRDC has played a visible role: pushing for strong cooperation on climate, nature, and health; elevating community voices; and working with partners to chart a clear vision for the movement.

This year, the stakes—and the opportunity—are greater than ever. Climate Week 2025 comes 10 years after the Paris Agreement, as the climate crisis reaches our front doors. Global temperatures have now exceeded 1.5 degrees Celsius. Last year was the hottest on record. This summer alone, we saw devastating fires in California, punishing heat waves worldwide, and deadly flooding in Texas, Pakistan, and throughout Asia while communities across every continent endured droughtshurricanes, and powerful storms.

In Washington, D.C., the administration isn’t just slowing climate action—it’s actively undermining it. At the very moment that we must accelerate clean energy and defend against disasters, the federal government is siding with polluters and trying to kill America’s clean energy future. Worse, it is pressuring other countries to double down on fossil fuels, including forcing them to buy U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) and undermining progress on the global plastics treaty. All of this stalls global progress toward a safer, cleaner economy. These rollbacks are dangerously out of step with what families are living through and with where the rest of the world is headed. Clean air, safe water, and a stable climate are fundamental rights, and abandoning clean energy—which cuts costs, creates jobs, and fuels prosperity—is a reckless betrayal of the public trust.

Progress is still possible, because it’s happening all around us. In the United States, states and cities continue to lead on clean energy. Globally, investment in clean energy is nearly double that in fossil fuels. Countries that lead will unlock trillions in opportunity; those that lag will lose out. The choice is simple: prosperity through clean energy, or decline through fossil fuels.

At the same time, leaders must do more to help people adapt to climate hazards already at our door. Floods, hurricanes, and heat waves are today’s reality. Building resilience means protecting lives, livelihoods, and stability. As the world looks toward COP30 in Brazil, the message is clear: Bold action on both clean energy and resilience must define this decade. None of us can hide from this crisis. But if we meet it together—with urgency, courage, and cooperation—we can still secure a safer, healthier, more prosperous tomorrow.

NRDC is showing up at this year’s Climate Week in a big way by creating space for our colleagues and partners to come together at a pivotal moment. Our experts will lead discussions, amplify voices, and share strategies to accelerate clean energy and strengthen resilience, and we hope you’ll join us. We’re proud to host and cohost the following events during Climate Week. Many are open to the public, and we encourage you to attend and share widely.

Hope to see you there.
